2025학년도 1학기 Academic English 수강신청 관련 안내

- “신입생 영어능력 평가고사”가 폐지됨에 따라, 2024학년도 2학기 이후 신입생부터 자율적으로 분반 난이도를 

   선택하여(초급, 중급 중 택1) 직접 수강신청하여야 합니다.

- 단, 개강 첫 주 분반 담당 교수자의 판단하에 해당 분반 수준(초급/중급)에 맞지 않는 학생이 있을 경우 

  해당 학생에게 분반 변경 요청을 할 수 있으며, 그 경우, 해당 학생은 수강신청 정정기간 직접 분반을 

  변경해야 합니다.

- 면제기준(고급수준)에 해당하는 공인영어성적을 입학하는 당해 학기 개강 전 학부대학행정팀에 메일로 

  제출한 학생은(제출처: geedcredu@korea.ac.kr) Academic English I 이수가 면제되며,

  이에 따른 부족 학점은 본인 졸업 요건에 맞춰 교양이나 전공으로 이수해야합니다. 

  (단, 입학하는 당해 학기 개강 전에 제출한 경우에 한하며, 그 이후 다음 학기에 제출하여 면제받는 것은

   허용되지 않음)

※각 소속 학과(부)로의 졸업요구조건 관련 공인영어성적 제출과는 별도로 운영되는 것임.

※고급 면제 기준

※중급 분반 권장 기준(해당 기준은 수강 신청 시, 중급 또는 초급 분반을 자율 선택하는데에 도움이 되도록 

  하는 권장 기준일 뿐, 별도 증빙을 요하지 않음)

- 2025학번 신입생들은 IFLS800 Academic English I을 1학년 1학기 또는 2학기에 수강 권장하며, 

  졸업 전까지 필수로 이수해야 합니다.

- 2023학번을 포함한 이전 학번 재학생들은 IFLS800 Academic English I과 IFLS801 Academic English II를 

  순차적으로 수강해야 합니다. 

  (반드시 Academic English I을 이수한 다음에 Academic English II를 수강할 수 있음.)

- 2012학번부터 Academic English I, II 최초수강은 정규학기에만 가능합니다. (계절학기에 최초수강 불가)

- 2025학년도 1학기 신입생이 아닌 재학생 재수강/미이수자는 반드시 “재수강/미이수자 분반”에

  수강신청하여야 합니다.

- 내국인 편입생의 경우는 “재수강/미이수자 중급 분반”으로 직접 수강신청해야 합니다.

- 기존에 신입생 영어능력 평가고사를 응시하지 않았었던 재학생들은 

  재수강 / 미이수자 중급 또는 초급 분반을 자율 선택하여 수강하면 되며, 위의 중급 분반 권장 기준을 참고 

  부탁드립니다.

- 단, 기존에 신입생 영어능력 평가고사를 응시하였던 학생들의 경우, 해당 등급의 분반에 직접 

  수강 신청해야 합니다.

- 체육특기자 분반은 따로 운영합니다.

2025-1 Guidelines of Course Registration for Academic English 

- Due to the abolition of the "Online English Proficiency Test for Freshmen," 

  incoming students from the 2024 academic year second semester will be required to directly register 

  for either the intermediate or foundation-level classes through self-selection.

- In the 1^st week of the semester, professors can request changes for students who do not match the level 

  (foundation or intermediate) of their enrolled class. Students should change their level accordingly 

  during the add/drop period. 

- Students who have submitted a certified English proficiency test score that meets the exemption criteria 

  for the advanced-level to the University College Administration team via email(geedcredu@korea.ac.kr) 

  prior to the start of the semester in which they are enrolling will be exempted from taking Academic English I. 

- The resulting shortage of credits must be fulfilled through other general electives or major courses 

  according to the student's graduation requirements. (However, the exemption for the advanced-level is 

  only applicable if the score is submitted prior to the start of the semester in which the student is enrolling, 

  and exemption will not be granted if the score is submitted in a subsequent semester.)

※ This is operated separately from the submission of the certified English proficiency test score

    to one’s own department in order to meet the graduation requirements.

※ Criteria for advanced-level exemption

※ Recommended criteria for Intermediate-level class placement 

   (These are just recommended criteria to help students choose between Intermediate or Foundation-level classes 

    during course registration, and no additional proof is required.)

- For students enrolled in 2025, it is recommended to take IFLS800 Academic English I 

  either in the 1st or 2nd semester of year 1, and it is mandatory to complete it before graduation.

- For students enrolled before 2023, they must take IFLS800 Academic English I and IFLS801 

  Academic English II sequentially. 

  (Academic English I must be completed before taking Academic English II.)
